About Multiplying and dividing fractions in AQA GCSE

Multiplying fractions is straightforward: multiply the numerators together and multiply the denominators together. You don't need common denominators. For example, 2/3 × 4/5 = 8/15. Dividing by a fraction means multiplying by its reciprocal (flip it upside down). So 2/3 ÷ 4/5 = 2/3 × 5/4 = 10/12 = 5/6. Remember: Keep, Change, Flip - keep the first fraction, change ÷ to ×, flip the second fraction. With mixed numbers, always convert to improper fractions first before multiplying or dividing. Simplify your answer and convert back to a mixed number if the question asks for it.
