Pie charts show proportions of a whole using sectors. The total is always 360°. To find the angle for a category: angle = (frequency / total) × 360°. To find frequency from an angle: frequency = (angle / 360°) × total.
When drawing a pie chart, calculate all angles first (check they sum to 360°), draw a circle, mark the centre, and use a protractor to draw each sector accurately. Label each sector clearly.
Pie charts work well for showing proportions but are harder to read for exact values. They're best when you have a few distinct categories and want to show how each compares to the whole.
