About Scatter graphs in AQA GCSE

Scatter graphs show the relationship between two variables by plotting paired data as points. The pattern reveals correlation: positive (both variables increase together), negative (one increases as the other decreases), or no correlation (no clear pattern). Correlation can be strong (points close to a line) or weak (points more scattered). Correlation does NOT prove causation - two things may be linked without one causing the other. A line of best fit passes through the data showing the general trend. It should have roughly equal numbers of points above and below. Use it to estimate values within the data range (interpolation), but be cautious about extrapolating beyond the data.
